Bishop Vinton R. Anderson, former head of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, was the keynote speaker at our 10th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast, at the Beta Lambda Educational Institute Building.

Bishop Anderson, a 58-year member of Alpha Phi Alpha and a veteran of the civil rights movement, challenged the audience to press for economic rights for the underclass. He warned that the push toward technological advances shouldn't overshadow the need for spiritual and economic renewal. Bishop Anderson also recalled his experiences meeting and marching with Dr. King, also a devoted Alpha Man.

Bishop Anderson, in addition to numerous groundbreaking accomplishments during his leadership of the A.M.E. Church, is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha and serves on the Fraternity's World Policy Council.

Alpha Phi Alpha is leading the effort to build the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. Learn more about the memorial project and make donations at www.mlkmemorial.org.
